FAQ

What is CW ELAB?

CW ELAB is an e-learning platform designed for translation graduates or students and for those who are just starting their career in the industry. It is meant to provide the tools that universities often fail to supply. You will have access to two free courses, with different lessons that show different career opportunities and strategies for entering the market, and you will learn how the most important translation tools and technologies work. At the end of each lesson, you are asked to complete a test in order to move on to the following lesson. By completing a training course, you will get a certificate for your CV as proof of the skills you have acquired.

Why are we offering free courses?

There are several companies, agencies and professionals that offer paid training. Our goal is to provide translators and aspiring translators with a tool so they can complete their basic education and effectively offer to collaborate in projects. We believe companies play a crucial role in society, and this is one of the ways we want to contribute to the growth of the market in which we work and help translators to get into the market.

Will I get work from Creative Words by completing the courses?

Completing this course does not guarantee a collaboration with Creative Words, but it is certainly a good move in getting started. To work with us as translators it is necessary to meet certain standards and pass the translation test. The certificate, however, attests to some skills that we consider essential.

I’d like to work with you. Can I apply through this platform?

We accept speculative applications, but not through this website. You can submit your application on this website and our Community Manager will evaluate your profile.

Is the certificate accepted by industry associations?

The certificate we issue is not accepted by any association at the moment. We will constantly update our range of courses with the aim of providing training that is current. We hope that our certificate will soon be accepted by associations and companies nationwide.

Can I claim university credits with the certificate?

No, you can’t claim university credits, but we are convinced that completing our courses can help you pass some exams.

How can I create an account?

To create an account just click on REGISTER and enter your details. You will receive immediate confirmation and you can start our courses straight away.

Why can’t I see all the lessons?

All lessons are available. It’s not possible to see all the content of all lessons at one time because each lesson is a prerequisite for the subsequent one. It’s necessary to complete the programme in order to see all the content.
At the time of registration, you can only access the lesson “Localisation terms and acronyms”. After completing the test, you will be able to view the next lesson (“Machine Translation Post-Editing”)

To progress to the next lesson, you must watch each video in its entirety and complete the corresponding quiz.

Can I watch videos on YouTube?

To complete the lesson and access the corresponding quiz, it is necessary to view the entire video within the website. The videos are also available on YouTube but the full view on YouTube will not allow you to unlock the test and advance in the course.

How do I know how long a video is?

To view the length of the video you need to open it on YouTube. Remember to watch the video on the website, otherwise you will not be able to access the test and the next lesson.
